# Tip 1. Disable Indexing to speed up windows 7:
If you are not one of those who use Search feature very often then you may consider disabling this feature, which involves caching and content indexing. To disable it simply Right click Computer in the Start Menu and click on Manage. >> Service option >> Services and Application, look for “Windows search”, right click and open properties dialog box and under start-up type select “Disabled”.
# Tip 2 Use Ready Boost to considerably speed up windows 7:
Those of you who have used Windows Vista earlier must be familiar with the Windows Ready Boost Technology. Ready boost is a way of speeding up your system using a Flash Drive (greater than 2GB in size). Once you have inserted your Pen drive simply click on the Speed up my system in the auto play. Now you can choose to dedicate the entire drive or part of it to this function. Although you may see some improvement in the performance but then there’s nothing like adding 2GB of RAM.
A page file is actually a virtual memory that almost all applications need to use. When the memory that is in use by all of the running processes exceed the total amount of RAM, the operating System moves pages (4KB pieces) of one or more virtual address space to the hard disk, thus freeing up the RAM for other uses. So while those with plenty of RAM 4GB or greater will seldom find the need for Page File but for others with it’s a great boon. In most cases with the lack of RAM systems also lack Disk space. If you remove the dependence on virtual memory the system should become faster, by reducing the read-write time (which is lesser for physical memory compared to HDD).
To do so hit [Win] + [Pause | Break] Key >> Click on Advanced System Settings >> Advanced Tab >> Performance >> Settings >> Advanced Tab >> Under Virtual Memory click change, Choose a custom Max and Min size in MB. This should be optimally 1.5 times the size of your RAM.
