Apple’s much talked about iOS 5 has already been Jailbroken.MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has posted the images of iOS5 beta1 running Cydia and iSSH. According to the developer the exploit used in this jailbreak is Geohot’sLimera1n excploit which was released few months ago.
The images clealy show Cydia installed in iOS5 beta1. Redsn0w is the team who is behind this jailbreak. The jailbreak tool is compatible with CDMA and GSM iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2 and iPod Touch 3 and 4.
You’ll need to repeat the jailbreak process every time they reboot you iPhone, iPad or iPod, since this is only a tethered jailbreak tool.
THIS IS A TETHERED JAILBREAK ONLY! No new exploits are being exposed with this jailbreak (it uses geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit), but that comes at a cost. You will need to use redsn0w to “Just boot tethered now” to be able to use many things, including Cydia and Safari. If you see a white icon for Cydia, or if Cydia or Safari crash when you open them, it’s because you didn’t boot tethered, the Redsnow about the jailbreak
One must notice that limera1n is a bootrom exploit that Apple can’t patch on the iPod touch through firmware alone. We are eager to see if the dev can come up with a way to jailbreak it untethered.Redsnow has warned users that using this jailbreak tool on iOS 5 beta, they could lose the unlockable baseband when trying to install iOS 5.
